Thanks for the feedback. I'm gonna need to check it!
This game does not save. I'm not playing this game because I have to start from the beginning every time.
Saving is something I want to implement in the next releases, I didnt plan it for the gamejam version - sorry :)
Gameplay and Critique ;)
Thank you so much for playing my game! Really great input and lots of good points.
I actively didnt include a tutorial for the gamejam as I hoped that the player tries to click on the UI elements and has some sort of discovery moment, as you only can activate one upgrade at the start and the game opens up. In a future release I'll include one.
The UI needs lot of work, yes. Great advice to show more information and to gray out the unlocks. I'm currently checking out other incremental games and am paying attention how they tackled these situations.
Sound is defo my biggest weakness :)
Making the game more fun by making the animations juicier is also something Id like to add. I like where the tree's are at.
Story wise its great input as I didn't really think that players would care for that.
Thank you again for playing through the game and even taking your time and making a video on it, I really appreciate it and it means a lot to me :)
I didn't need to do any requests; after a while thanks to automation I had more resources than I knew what to do with, even crafting the end-game coin resource was no big deal. Unless I'm missing something by not doing the requests?
Including the coin in the Furnace was a last minute change. I played through the game multiple times and I thought that players might get frustrated with the devils balancing and I'd rather have players play through the game instead of giving up midway. In the future release I'll rebalance the devil. :) Thank you for playing!
Hey there! My name is Ichit. I've done some QA for games like The Sims and Gears of War!
I played the game for an hour and wrote up a small report with some feedback.
Feel free to reach out to me if you want further testing on this product or any other products!
Feedback:
- Overall I think it's a great amount of content for a game jam game!
I think each tech has a good amount of depth without it getting confusing.
- The act of interacting with objects to get materials is addicting
- SFX is crunchy and works well with the visuals
- I like the progression of automation and other materials to get.
- When you sell things in store, it kind of confuses me i have items with 0x amount
- After farm animals and crops got introduced. I felt like there could have been more upgrades in between. There was a good stretch of time where I wasn't able to buy any upgrades.
- Some tech tree items I don't know what they did
--> Unlock Market to Buy I and II
- I didn't know what the winner button was till I accidentally clicked on it.
- I liked the devil deals, but was hoping for some devil deal specific trade that I needed to unlock the next tech or really rare items coming from them.
Bugs:
- Minor bug: menus have differing positions (i.e. tech tree vs inventory -- you can see the top being partially covered)
- First time you open up devil deals, pressing E shows the same text
- When devil deals tips is animating the text overflows then adjusts
- Fruittree typo in the tech tree => "Fruit Tree"
- When you win the game and see the prompt, the prompt can overlap with other screens (i.e. settings, crafting)
Suggestions:
- For recipes could be nice to be able to click a craftable item, and the game is able to auto craft it's requirements (i.e. I want to make a white ingot, I have the materials to make the required ingots -- if I click start, it will create a job to create the required ingots, then the target ingot
- Could use SFX when selling items
- Could use SFX when setting up tasks in the furnace
- For large numbers comma delimiting will help people read larger numbers easier. i.e. 10000 -> 10,000
- Initially I didn't know how to farm for a quick second, then I found out I needed to look at the research. I think if player enters the farm tab and has no plants -- perhaps there is a link to get them to the market or info how to get seeds.
- More feedback when player is able to interact with vegetables would be good -- sometimes I click on it multiple times -- unsure when I can click it to gain stuff
- Could be good to have tabs for specific categories in crafting / store for quicker use.
--> Ores
--> Food
--> Animal
- I think the category buttons could be split up a bit more and have them keep a certain space away from each other.
[Settings]
[inventory, tech]
[Crafting, deals, buy, sell]
[Ores, trees, crops, animals]
- Could use a scroll bar on areas with lists of items (i.e. inventory, store)
First of all thank you so much for taking your time and giving me back such a thorough feedback!
- Thanks! I had to cut corners, there were 2 more ressources planned.
- I wanted to give every item some sort of use be it either on the Furnace or the Unlocks.
- The items with the amount of 0x mean you dont have any. Thats a good point, I get it can get confusing and also floods you with not intersting information. It should only show items to sell, that you actually have at least 1 or more.
- Thats a good point, after getting the farm and animals you are kind of in the endgame of the demo. There will be more in the upcoming version.
- Descriptions need to get better and show the player what they will unlock. I agree it should be more transparent.
- I am also unhappy with the devil deals as the balancing was hard to get working and I was approaching the last days of the gamejam, so I left it at that. Great idea to give him some specific rare items, maybe temporal powerups.
Bugs:
- The UI needs lot of work, yes. Im currently checking out other incremental games and am paying attention how they tackled these situations.
- Damn I thought I had the E Button error fixed. Will need to look into it.
- The idea was to give some sort of character to the devil and make some quirky animation with the text. Will need to update that.
- Great catch with the typo.
- Yes was a last day addition. You currently have to click on the winner button to close it. This was just for the jam, I'll see if I leave that Unlock :)
Suggestions:
- Recipe Autocraft: Good suggestion, I think thats something I will do for the next update.
- SFX: I need to look into some soundpacks that I purchased and go over all interactions and make sure Sound is available.
- Comma+Points for large numbers. Yes makes sense, I'll also include the scientific notation as an option.
- Farm+Plants: A tutorial or notification for that will be needed.
- Plant progress: I see, initially I wanted to have the progressbar depict the stages and time in stage, when the progressbar is gone the plant is ready. I will include a tutorial/info on that.
- I was very unhappy from the start with the ui buttons at the bottom but couldn't really think of a good alternative on how to make it better. Currently looking into other incremental games on how the tackle these things. I agree, the spacing and size of these buttons could be better.
- Scrolling is something I want to tackle next as I have read that people also play it on their tablets and there dragging doesn't work out of the box. Ill also make sure to include a scrollbar on all of the scrollable menus.
This is a game that I would actually play, holy hell! Make this real and full!
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey, great game i like that its not exactly like other farm games, u have to actually aim ot the ores, whjile trying to get the ores u need for anoither upgrade wondering what u will unlock next. i like the idea especially since u can unlock more like the trees early on u dont have to wait for an eternity just to start again with a different ressource. Great Job!
Thanks! Great to hear that the flow of the game was enjoyable. :)
